About Lisa Baue

A History of Growth in the Face of Adversity

Lisa is a third-generation funeral director and graduate of the University of Missouri Columbia and National Foundation of Funeral Service Management School. She joined her family firm as a funeral director at age 30, and took over the business following the unexpected death of her father less than a decade later.
In order to purchase the business, Lisa was forced to shoulder substantial debt while fighting for growth in a highly competitive market. At the time, her family business was very small, serving just 300 families per year. Under her leadership, the Baue brand ultimately grew to encompass three funeral home locations, the county’s first onsite crematory, a flower and gift shop, three reception centers and more. Through these affiliates, Baue and its 100-plus employees now serve over 1800 families a year.

A Future Dedicated to Helping Others Find Success

In 2019, with no heir available to purchase the business, Lisa reached out to a number of buyers, eventually finding the right fit to carry on her family legacy and continue serving her community. However, she knew that she was not ready to leave the profession—she could never walk away from the world that had given her so much. Rather, she was determined to give back.
Lisa founded My Funeral Coach because of her unwavering desire to serve her profession and provide support for small to medium size businesses. Armed with decades of experience and driven by integrity, agility and compassion, she will help you thrive in the face of adversity, increasing competition and a fast-changing world.
